Transfer Task Force is a student organization dedicated to enhancing the college experience for transfer and nontraditional students at the university that holds core values in community and meaningful service. Our current service project works alongside the Canine Companions organization to raise potential service dogs. We will complete basic socialization training on and off campus, which is perfect due to Pensacola’s diverse environment, accessibility, pet friendly spaces, and the large student body on campus. We aim to raise enough money to cover food, other supplies, and any other costs that may accrue such as vet bills for two to three dogs, with our main priority being food. This takes a major financial stress off our volunteer puppy raisers, so that we can do more to help Canine Companion meet the needs of those on their waiting lists. We would love to finish this project by finding support for our trip down to the Southeast Region Training Center in Orlando for the drop-off after the puppies prove their ready for service dog college! As a student organization that is less than a year old, we are establishing ourselves on campus, and financial assistance for advertisement and branding purposes would help us create a strong foundation and encourage others to join us in our efforts to give back to the UWF community. Overall, we want to help more students find their sense of belonging on campus and help them cultivate not only great relationships and memories, but great stories of service that could serve them well on the job market post graduation.
